San Diego Jazz Trumpet player Al Stovall began playing when he was 8 years old and performed in various gospel groups every sunday for several years.
He played his first professional job when he was 11 at the San Diego Country Club with a Big Band.
Allen began freelancing and did his first recording session at age 15 while also playing in the City College, Southwestern College, Mesa College and SDSU Jazz Ensembles. Al Stovall quickly establishing himself as a busy jazz and studio trumpeter performing numerous KSDS 88.3 FM Jazz Live shows while still in his teens. Allen was in the house band of the San Diego Chargers and Friars Tennis Team while also still in his teens.
Consciously acknowledging his debt to the influence and guidance of former teachers and fellow musicians, Allen Stovall also commits a good deal of his time and energies to helping young music students develop their own voices.

San Diego Jazz Trumpet Player Al Stovall attended San Diego State University and played with the "A" Band Jazz Ensemble at age 15, Al Stovall also played with City College Jazz Ensemble and Southwestern College Jazz Ensemble, Mesa College Jazz Ensemble while still in Crawford High School.
